A fabulous homeschooling mother in my area hosted a Reader's Theater activity for the local homeschoolers. It was held at a local library and we were asked to bring snacks to share. The only cost to the host was the copies of the scripts and her time and energy. This would be an extremely easy homeschool event to host for your local community.Suggestions:
- ask that participants be independent readers
- have parents bring dress up clothes and possible props
- assign 1-2 older children to be leaders and lead group in practicing
- try to have as little adult input as possible
Here are some resources for scripts:
Readers Theater Scripts and Plays
Readers Theater Editions of comedy stories
Whootie Owl's Reader's Theatre Play Scripts
Scripts from Storycart.com
Stretch-A-Book offers a whole book package with scripts, etc.

Hello.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your Readers' Theater video. We created a StretchABook Club with book of the month paks of book plus free downloadable Readers' Scripts, songs, choreography, stickers etc.
Is there any way to have it reviewed on your Readers' Theater site of opinions. I think one family could share a membership or give it as a gift to a school to share. We do offer free scripts but without the book, the children don't get the full fun of the program.
I'll look forward to hearing from you.
